Cloud hosting is the cleanest answer to the 'our Tally PC is in the office but we are not' problem. One licence, installed once on a cloud server, reached from anywhere. Here is how the licence travels — and the one limit that travels with it.
When the second PC is not in the next room but in another home or another city, LAN tricks stop applying and cloud hosting becomes the honest route. This page explains what actually moves to the cloud (the one installation, the one dataset), what does not change (Silvers one-session rule), and the checks to do before you hand your books to a server you will never see.
Tally on cloud is not a different Tally. It means your one licensed TallyPrime installation runs on a rented server in a data centre instead of on a PC in your office. Tally offers its own cloud route (TallyPrime on AWS), and many providers host Tally on their servers too. You connect to that server over the internet and work exactly as if you were sitting in front of it.
For the two-PC question this solves the location problem completely: the office desk, the owners home and a travelling laptop all reach the same single installation and the same single dataset.
Be clear about the limit, because hosting sellers blur it: moving a Silver licence to the cloud does not turn it into a multi-user licence. Two people still cannot hold licensed sessions at the same time — a standard cloud Windows server also gives you one interactive desktop session at a time in its basic form. What cloud removes is the geography: the turns can now be taken from anywhere, and the data stops living on a PC that gets switched off at night.
If the real need is two people entering at once and access from anywhere, the honest combination is Gold hosted on cloud — multi-user by licence, reachable from everywhere by hosting.
The video above walks through what actually happens when one Tally licence meets two PCs, step by step, on screen.
▶️ Watch Full VideoNo. Cloud changes the location of the single licensed installation, not the licence terms. On Silver, sessions are still one at a time — and a basic cloud Windows server typically offers one interactive desktop session at a time as well. Simultaneous multi-user work needs Gold, whether hosted locally or on cloud.
A licence move follows Tallys surrender and reactivate process: surrender the licence on the current machine, install TallyPrime on the cloud server, and activate the same licence there. Do it in a planned window with Tally closed everywhere, and keep your TSS subscription active for connected services.
It can be, with a responsible provider. Choose Tallys own cloud offering or a named provider, confirm where the server is, what backups are taken and how often, and who has administrative access. The risk is not the cloud itself — it is an unknown operator with no answers to those questions.
