Beauti OS Activation Needs a Genuine Windows 11 Licence
No custom Windows build — Beauti OS included — comes with a licence. Here is how activation really works on a modded system, and the traps to avoid.

Of all the misunderstandings around custom Windows builds, activation is the biggest. People assume a downloaded ISO is somehow 'already licensed'. It is not. A licence is a legal right to use Windows, and no third-party build can hand you one. This page explains what that means in practice: what happens without activation, what a 'pre-activated' build is really telling you, and how to check your own status in ten seconds.
Activation check on any Windows 11 PC — slmgr.vbs /xpr (illustrative)
C:\Windows\System32> slmgr.vbs /xpr
Windows(R), Professional edition:
The machine is permanently activated.

Run this one command on any PC — stock or custom — and Windows tells you the truth about its own licence.
1
Why No Custom Build Includes a Licence
Windows licences belong to Microsoft's licensing system: a retail key, an OEM key tied to a PC from the factory, or a digital licence linked to your hardware and Microsoft account. A project that rebuilds a Windows image has none of these to give you. The most any build can do is install Windows and leave activation to you — the same position you are in with Microsoft's own ISO.
So the honest price of Beauti OS, like Tiny11-class builds before it, is: the software is customised, the licence is still on you.
2
The Pre-Activated Red Flag
If a custom build announces it is 'pre-activated' or 'activated forever', understand what that means technically: the maker used an unauthorised activation method — typically an emulated KMS server or a similar crack baked into the image.
It is not legal licencing, whatever the download page claims
It proves the maker was comfortable modifying the most sensitive part of the OS — activation — which should make you ask what else was modified
Such hacks are a classic malware delivery channel; fake activators are among the most common infection sources in technician experience
A build that needs you to run an 'activator' tool after install is asking even more. Never run one. Buy a genuine key, use a licence you already own, or run unactivated with its limits — all three are safer than a crack.
3
What Unactivated Windows Actually Limits
If you install a custom build and skip activation, Windows still runs. The honest list of consequences:
A persistent 'Activate Windows' watermark on the desktop
Personalisation settings locked — wallpaper, colours and themes are restricted, which is ironic on a build chosen for its looks
Periodic activation reminders
Core work — apps, updates, files — continues; Microsoft does not cripple the machine
For a spare test machine, many people accept this. For a daily PC, a genuine licence is simply part of the cost of Windows, custom or not.
4
How to Be Properly Activated
Reuse what you own: a retail Windows 10 or 11 key, or a digital licence already tied to that PC from a previous genuine install, activates Windows 11 — custom builds included — through Settings, System, Activation
Buy from a real source: Microsoft or an authorised retailer. Extremely cheap keys sold by random websites are usually volume or resold keys that can deactivate later — the discount is the risk
Verify afterwards: run slmgr.vbs /xpr in Command Prompt and confirm it reports permanent activation
📌 Remember: customised is not licensed. If any Windows download — custom build or 'free activator' — promises the licence problem is magically solved, the solution is a crack, and cracks are where malware lives.

My old PC had Windows — can its licence activate a custom build?
Often yes. If the PC previously ran a genuinely activated Windows 10 or 11, its digital licence is tied to the hardware and usually reactivates automatically when the same edition (Home or Pro) is installed, once the PC is online and signed in. Edition must match — a Home licence does not activate Pro.
Is it illegal to use a custom build like Beauti OS?
The build itself sits outside Microsoft's licence terms, which cover using Windows as Microsoft supplies it, and modifying and redistributing Windows images is not permitted by those terms. Separately, running any Windows without a valid licence is unlicensed use. We keep it simple: genuine Windows plus a genuine licence is the only fully clean position.
Why does my custom build show a different edition name in activation?
Custom builds are sometimes based on one edition and restyled, or report edition details differently after modification. What matters is the activation result: run slmgr.vbs /xpr. If it does not say permanently activated, the PC is not activated, whatever the desktop claims.
