Microsoft gives the Office 2024 installer away free on its own servers. Two official links, one extract, one Setup click — that is the whole install the video shows. The one thing the download never includes is a licence: activation always uses the product key or Microsoft account you own.

Most Office 2024 guides send you through a slow web installer that downloads apps one by one. The route in this video is faster and cleaner: download the complete official image once, straight from Microsoft, then install from your own disk. Below is the same route in writing — with the honest timing, the right link for your licence, and the activation step explained plainly. Installing is free. Using Office needs a licence you own — there is no activator, crack or shortcut anywhere in this guide.

Step 1 — Pick the image that matches your licence
Office 2024 comes in two retail editions, and the image you download must match the licence you own or plan to buy. A Home key cannot activate the Home and Business edition, and the other way round fails too.
Office Home 2024 — Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, licensed for home use on one PC or Mac
Office Home and Business 2024 — everything in Home, plus classic Outlook, and it may be used for business work
No licence yet? Buy from Microsoft or an authorised seller first, then download the matching image — the image itself is always free

Step 2 — Download the official image
Copy the link for your edition into your browser and let the download finish completely. These are the exact links used in the video, and both point to Microsoft's own CDN.

The file is around 4 GB, so on a slow connection this step — not the install — is where the time goes
Do not rename or open the file while it is still downloading; a half-finished image is the top cause of setup errors

Step 3 — Open the image and find Setup
The download is a disc image file ending in .img. Windows 10 and 11 can open it directly.
Double-click the .img file — Windows mounts it as a virtual drive and a new drive letter appears
Or, exactly as shown in the video, right-click the file and extract it with your unzip tool, then open the extracted folder
Inside, look for Setup.exe sitting at the top level of the image — that single file runs the whole installation

Step 4 — Run Setup and let it finish
Double-click Setup.exe and approve the Windows permission prompt. There is nothing to configure — the image already knows its edition, so setup installs the full suite in one pass.
Keep the laptop plugged in and leave the PC alone while the progress screen runs
On an SSD with the files already on disk, this stage really is about a minute or two — the video's timer is honest about this stage
When you see the completion screen, close it and open any app, for example Word, from the Start menu

Step 5 — Activate with your own licence ⭐
On first launch Office asks you to sign in or enter a key. This is normal, and it is the step that makes your copy genuine.
If you redeemed your key earlier, sign in with the same Microsoft account — Office finds the licence on it automatically
If you have a fresh 25-character key, choose the enter-a-key option, or redeem it first at office.com/setup and then sign in
Without activation, Office opens in reduced-functionality mode after a short grace period — you can view and print, but editing locks
Any website offering to activate Office 2024 for free is not selling a licence — it is offering a crack. This guide never uses one, and you do not need one: your own key or account is the whole activation
🔴 The download is free — the licence is not. The image is just the installer. Office 2024 is a one-time purchase (no subscription), and one licence covers one PC or Mac. If a price looks impossibly cheap, the key is usually resold against Microsoft's terms and can be deactivated later.

Yes. The retail images are hosted on Microsoft's own servers at officecdn.microsoft.com and anyone can download them. What you pay for is the licence — Office Home 2024 or Home and Business 2024 is a one-time purchase that activates the software you downloaded.
Can I install Office 2024 without a product key?
You can install it, but not use it fully. Setup runs without any key, and on first launch Office asks you to sign in with a Microsoft account that owns a licence, or to enter a genuine 25-character key. Until then it runs in reduced-functionality mode.
Will installing Office 2024 delete my old documents?
No. Installing Office never touches your files. Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in docx, xlsx and pptx formats open in Office 2024 exactly as before, and uninstalling an old Office first does not delete them either.
