⚖️ Edition Choice Guide

Office 2024 Home or Home and Business Pick the Right Retail Image

Two editions, two download links, one common mistake: downloading the wrong image for the key you own. The difference between Home and Home and Business is smaller than the marketing suggests — it comes down to Outlook and one line in the licence.

🎥 The video shows both official links side by side — here is how to choose between them

The video's description carries two download links, one for home use and one for home business use, and viewers regularly ask which one they need. The answer decides which file you download and which key you buy, because the two are locked together: an edition can only be activated by a licence of the same edition. This page makes the choice once, clearly.

The two retail editions of Office 2024. Everything else people ask about — Access, Publisher — is in neither box; those live in the separate LTSC volume edition for organisations.

What Office Home 2024 gives you

The four everyday apps — Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote — as a one-time purchase for one PC or Mac. For students, families and anyone whose work documents are personal, this is the complete product. There is no subscription and no expiry: the 2024 version stays the 2024 version.

  1. Licensed for home (non-commercial) use
  2. No classic Outlook — the free new Outlook app for Windows can still handle your mail separately
2

What Home and Business adds — two things only

The Home and Business edition adds exactly two things, and both matter to a specific kind of buyer:

  1. Classic Outlook — the full desktop mail client, the main reason most people step up
  2. Commercial use rights — the licence allows using Office for business and paid work, which the Home licence does not
3

The key must match the image ⭐

This is the trap the video's two links exist to prevent. A Home 2024 key entered into a Home and Business install is rejected, and the reverse fails too — the installer and the licence are edition-locked.

  1. Bought a Home key? Download Home2024Retail.img
  2. Bought a Home and Business key? Download HomeBusiness2024Retail.img
  3. Realised after installing? Nothing is lost — uninstall, download the other image, install again. Your documents are never touched
4

Language — the video's links are English, and that is fixable

Both links in the video download the en-us (English) image, because that is what the file names say. If you want Office in another language, you have two honest options:

  1. Install from the English image, then add your language inside any Office app: File → Options → Language, add the language and let Office download its pack
  2. Or download the same edition's image in your language from Microsoft — the image name carries the language code, for example en-us becomes your language's code
  3. Your key works with any language of the same edition — language and licence are separate choices
5

So which one should you buy?

Pure home use, mail in a browser or the free Outlook app: Home 2024 is enough, and the step-up buys you nothing. You run a shop, freelance, or send invoices from this PC, or you simply live in classic Outlook: Home and Business 2024 is the correct and legal choice. Neither edition is a subscription, and neither upgrades itself to a future version — that honesty is built into the one-time price.

🔴 Edition first, download second. Most failed Office 2024 activations are not broken keys — they are good keys typed into the wrong edition's install. Check which key you own before you click either link.

❓ Common Questions (FAQ)

Does Office Home 2024 include Outlook?

No. Classic Outlook is only in Home and Business 2024. Home 2024 buyers still get the free new Outlook app for Windows from Microsoft, which handles personal mail well, but it is a separate app and not part of the Home 2024 licence.

Can I upgrade from Home to Home and Business later?

There is no upgrade discount or in-place switch. You buy the Home and Business licence, uninstall the Home edition, and install the Home and Business image. Your documents and files are untouched by the swap.

Does Office 2024 include Access or Publisher?

No. Neither retail edition includes Access or Publisher. Those apps ship in the Office LTSC 2024 volume edition sold to organisations. If a download site offers a retail Office 2024 with Access included, it is not the genuine retail image.
