Printing From a Published Winflector App to a Local Printer
The app runs on the server, but the paper must come out of the printer sitting next to the user. Winflector solves this two ways — and knowing both saves the classic invoice-will-not-print panic.

Printing confuses people in every remote-app system, because the program doing the printing is on the server, while the printer is attached to the user's own PC or branch. Winflector handles this with a PDF printer built into the product and with universal printing support that sends the job to the client's printer. Here is how each works and what to check when nothing comes out.
Printing from a published app — the two routes
📄 Winflector PDF Printer — printout becomes a PDF the user saves or prints locallyWorks from browser
🖨️ Universal printing — job sent to the printer attached to the user PCDirect paper
🏢 Server printer — prints at the head office, not at the branchCommon mix-up
☝️ The same Print button can mean three different destinations — most printing complaints are simply the wrong one being selected
1
Route One — The Winflector PDF Printer
Inside the published application, choose Print and select the Winflector PDF Printer
Instead of paper, you get a PDF of the printout that you can view, save, and then print on any local printer — this works even from the browser (HTML5) client, where direct printer access is hardest
For invoices and vouchers this is often the most reliable route: the PDF is also a ready-made copy for email or records
2
Route Two — Universal Printing to the Local Printer
Winflector supports universal printing, which redirects the print job from the server session to the printer on the client's machine without installing that printer's exact driver on the server
Make sure the printer works from the user's own PC first — print a test page locally. A printer that fails locally will fail remotely too
Inside the app, pick the redirected/local printer entry, not a printer that physically sits at the head office
3
When Nothing Prints — The Checklist
Confirm the job left the application: print to the PDF printer. If the PDF appears, the app and Winflector are fine and the problem is only the local printer path
Check the user PC's print queue — a stuck old job blocks everything behind it
Check the session is fully connected; a half-reconnected session after a network drop can lose printer redirection until the user logs in fresh
On the server, the temporary print spool area must be writable and not full — a server with a completely full disk silently kills printing and much more
4
Set Expectations for Branches
Big print jobs travel over the same connection as the session. On a slow branch link, a 40-page report will take its time — the PDF route lets the user download once and print locally at full speed
For daily counter work (invoices at a billing desk), direct universal printing is the smoother habit; for reports and copies, PDF first is the safer habit
🔴 Diagnose with the PDF printer first. It separates the problem in one step: PDF appears = app, server and Winflector are healthy, fix the local printer. No PDF = the problem is inside the session or the app — stop reinstalling printer drivers.
🎥 Watch the Complete Setup in the Full Video
The video walks through the complete Winflector setup — once publishing works as shown there, printing is a two-minute configuration on top.
Yes. The Winflector PDF Printer works from the browser client: the printout is generated as a PDF that the user can view, save and print on their own printer. It is the most dependable route for HTML5 users.
The invoice printed at the head office instead of our branch. Why?
The application printed to a printer installed on the server — which physically sits at the head office. Inside the app, choose the redirected local printer or the Winflector PDF Printer instead of the server's own printer.
Do I need to install every branch printer driver on the server?
Generally no. Winflector's universal printing exists precisely to avoid collecting drivers for every client printer on the server. The printer must simply work correctly on the user's own computer.
