Publish Tally and Accounting Apps With Winflector for a Small Office
One Tally installation, one set of books, and everyone — owner at home, accountant at another desk, branch across town — working in the same live data. This is the job Winflector is bought for most often.

Accounting data hates being copied. The moment Tally data lives on three pen drives and two laptops, nobody knows which copy is real. Publishing solves it structurally: Tally stays installed on one central machine with its data, and Winflector delivers only the Tally window to each user. No data file ever travels. This guide covers the setup decisions specific to accounting work.
One set of books — every user in the same live data
🏢 Central PC — Tally installed here, data lives here onlySingle source
👤 Owner at home — opens Tally in a browser, sees live figuresView and work
👤 Accountant — vouchers and GST work in the same company dataSame data
👤 Branch staff — billing only, sees only the published appNo data copy
☝️ Nobody holds a copy of the books — everyone works in the one central company, so the figures are always current
1
Set Up the Central Machine Properly
Install Tally (or your accounting app) on the central PC and keep the data folder on that same machine — local data is what makes the published app fast for everyone
Publish the application in Winflector with the correct program path and its working folder, then test that a remote user lands in the right company
Fix the PC's network address and disable sleep. Month-end is not when you want the accounts PC napping
2
Licence Honesty — Both Layers
Winflector layer: seats are per concurrent device. The free version covers 2 devices at a time; count your real peak (owner + accountant + branch together?) and licence for that
Tally layer: Tally's own editions matter. The single-user edition is meant for one user at a time; simultaneous multi-user work needs the multi-user edition. Winflector delivering the window does not change what your Tally licence permits — keep both layers clean
The same logic applies to any accounting or billing package: check its multi-user terms before publishing it to a team
3
Users, Passwords and Who Sees What
Create a separate Winflector account per person, and match it with separate user accounts inside Tally with sensible rights — data entry staff do not need delete rights, and the owner keeps the admin level
Publish only the accounting app to accounting staff. They never see the server desktop, the data folder, or other programs — which is exactly how it should be
When a person leaves, remove both accounts the same day. With central data, off-boarding is genuinely complete — they never had a copy
4
Printing Vouchers and Taking Backup
Branch users print invoices through the Winflector PDF Printer or universal printing to their local printer — test one real invoice from each branch before go-live
Backup becomes simple and honest: there is exactly one data folder on one machine. Back it up daily to an external drive or cloud, and test a restore once — a backup never tested is a hope, not a backup
Keep the internet-access rules from our security guides: if the owner opens Tally from home, that path (VPN first, strong passwords) deserves the same care as the data itself
🔴 Publishing does not multiply licences. Winflector makes one installation reachable by many people; it does not make a single-user accounting licence a multi-user one. Offices get into trouble by skipping the app maker's edition rules — check both layers and stay clean.

Can the owner check Tally figures from home with this setup?
Yes — that is the most common reason offices publish Tally with Winflector. The owner logs in from a browser or the client and works in the same live company data. Set up the outside-access path safely (VPN first, strong passwords) because it is your accounts data.
Two people entering vouchers at the same time — will the data clash?
With a proper multi-user edition of the accounting software, simultaneous work in the same company is a supported, normal mode — each user has their own session on the central machine. With a single-user edition, simultaneous use is outside its licence and behaviour, so upgrade the app edition first.
Where does the Tally data actually live in this setup?
Only on the central machine where Tally is installed. Users receive the application window; the data files are never copied to their PCs. That single location is what makes backup and access control genuinely simple.
