Winflector Licensing Explained Concurrent Devices and the Free 2 User Version
Winflector is not licensed per person and not per installation of the client. It is licensed per device connected right now. Once that one idea is clear, the free version, the pricing and the sizing all make sense.

Most licensing confusion around Winflector comes from one misunderstanding: people count their staff. Winflector counts simultaneous connections. Ten employees who never use the app at the same time may need far fewer licences than ten. This guide explains the model exactly as the maker (OTC) states it, including what the free version honestly does and does not give you.
Winflector licence seats — the free version at its limit

☝️ Seats are counted by devices connected at the same moment — a correct login is still refused when every seat is busy

What Per Concurrent Device Means
One licence = one active client device. That device can run an unlimited number of published applications under that single licence
The client program can be installed on any number of computers for free — a licence is only consumed while a device is actually connected and running apps
Example: an office with 12 staff, but never more than 5 using the shared app at the same time, needs 5 licences — not 12

The Free Version, Stated Plainly
The free server is the full software with no expiry date, licensed for 2 concurrent client devices, and it may be used commercially
Its real limits: no new users can be added beyond the supplied setup, it cannot work as a farm server, the Remote Desktop feature is not included, MAC filters are unavailable, and the additional SSL security option for HTML5 clients is not included
Technical support is not guaranteed on the free version
For a 1–2 person need — say the owner and the accountant — the free version can honestly be the final answer, not just a demo

Trials and Mixing Licences
Need to test with more than 2 users before buying? OTC provides a time-limited trial for the number of users you request — ask them by email or the contact form on winflector.com instead of guessing
Licence types cannot be mixed — you cannot bolt a small commercial licence onto the free licence to make 4 seats
Moving the server to a new computer is allowed: install there, activate with your key, and switch the old installation off
4
Size It by the Busiest Hour
Watch the server at the busiest time of day (month-end billing, morning dispatch) and count simultaneous connections
Buy for that peak plus a little headroom — a user refused at the busiest moment is worse than one spare seat
Re-check after any change: a disconnected-but-open session can hold a seat, so train users to close the app, not just the laptop lid
🔴 Do not buy per headcount. Counting total employees instead of simultaneous users is the most common way offices overpay for Winflector — and counting only average users instead of the peak is how they underbuy. Measure the busiest hour.

Is the free Winflector version a trial that expires?
No. The free server is the full software without an expiry time, limited to 2 concurrent client devices and some features. It can be used commercially. Larger time-limited trials for more users are available from the maker on request.
We have 20 staff. How many licences do we need?
Only as many as the maximum number of devices connected at the same time. If at the busiest moment 7 people are in the app, you need 7 licences — the other 13 staff can still have accounts and use it whenever a seat is free.
Can one device run several published apps on one licence?
Yes. Licensing is per active device, and each client computer can run an unlimited number of applications under one Winflector server licence while connected.
