Ventoy Bypass Not Working This PC Cant Run Windows 11 Error Still Appears Fix
You did everything the videos said, booted from Ventoy — and Windows Setup still stops with the same can't-run-Windows-11 screen. The bypass is not magic; it fails for a few specific, fixable reasons. Find yours below.

When the bypass does not apply, it is almost never random. Ventoy's Windows 11 bypass depends on which Ventoy version is on the stick, how its setting is stored, and how Setup was launched. Work through these four causes in order — the first two cover most cases.
Windows Setup — Windows 11
Windows Setup
This PC can't run Windows 11
This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements to install this version of Windows. For more information, visit aka.ms/WindowsSysReq
👆 The error that should have been skipped — if you are seeing this, one of the four causes below applies (setup dialog recreated with the real wording)
1
Cause 1 — Your Ventoy Is Too Old
The bypass feature only exists from Ventoy 1.0.55, and it only became on by default in 1.0.86. On versions between those, the feature exists but sits switched off, waiting for a config file most people never made.
Check your version: it is printed at the bottom of the Ventoy boot menu
Plug the stick into a working PC, run Ventoy2Disk.exe and click Update
Updating Ventoy does not erase the ISOs on the stick — only a fresh Install does that
Boot the target PC again and retry the install
2
Cause 2 — A Broken or Misplaced ventoy.json
If you (or an old tutorial) created the config by hand, check the three classic mistakes:
Hidden extension: the file is actually named ventoy.json.txt. In File Explorer, turn on File name extensions and rename it properly
Wrong place: it must sit inside a folder named ventoy on the stick's main (first) partition — not in the root, not inside an ISO folder
Broken JSON: one missing comma or bracket makes Ventoy ignore the whole file. The safe repair is to delete the hand-made file and set the options once through VentoyPlugson.exe, which writes a correct file for you
3
Cause 3 — You Launched Setup.exe From Inside Windows
This one surprises many people. Ventoy injects the bypass while booting the ISO. If you mounted the ISO inside your running Windows and double-clicked setup.exe, Ventoy was never in the chain — so Setup runs its normal compatibility appraisal and blocks you, exactly as designed.
Restart the PC and boot from the Ventoy stick itself
Choose the Windows 11 ISO from the Ventoy menu so Setup starts under Ventoy
For an in-place upgrade of an already-installed system, booting the stick is not the route either — that case needs the LabConfig keys added to the running system first (covered in the updates guide on this site)
4
Cause 4 — Ventoy Itself Never Loaded
If the PC has Secure Boot switched on and shows a blue Verification failed: (0x1A) Security Violation screen before the Ventoy menu, the bypass is not the problem at all — Ventoy was blocked before it could start. That is the key enrolment step: press OK, choose Enroll key from disk, select ENROLL_THIS_KEY_IN_MOKMANAGER.cer from the VTOYEFI partition, confirm, and reboot. A full walkthrough of that screen is in the Secure Boot guide in this series.
⚠️ Honest note: if all four causes check out and Setup still refuses, look at the hardware itself. A PC whose CPU lacks the POPCNT / SSE4.2 instruction cannot run Windows 11 24H2 or newer — Setup is not being stubborn there, the operating system genuinely cannot execute on that processor, and no bypass changes that.

How do I know which Ventoy version is on my stick?
Boot any PC from the stick — the Ventoy version is displayed at the bottom of the Ventoy boot menu. You can also see it in Ventoy2Disk when the stick is plugged into a Windows PC.
Will updating Ventoy delete my ISOs?
No. The Update option in Ventoy2Disk upgrades only the Ventoy system files and keeps every ISO and file on the data partition. Only the Install option formats the stick.
The bypass worked on one PC but not another. Why?
The setting applies to the Windows 11 Setup session, so it should behave the same on every PC. When it differs, the cause is usually the launch method (setup.exe from Windows on the failing PC) or Secure Boot stopping Ventoy before the menu on that particular machine.
