Ventoy Bypass vs Rufus Bypass Windows 11 Install Method Compared Honestly

Rufus or Ventoy for bypassing the Windows 11 checks? This page compares only the bypass — where the setting lives, what happens to your ISO, and how much work each method costs when you install on many PCs.

Both tools ultimately rely on the same trick — the LabConfig registry keys that tell Windows Setup to skip its hardware checks. The real difference is when and where that trick is applied. Rufus applies it while creating the USB. Ventoy applies it while booting from the USB. That single difference decides everything below.

Rufus — Windows User Experience
Windows User Experience

☑ Remove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0

☑ Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account

☑ Create a local account with username

👆 The Rufus way — bypass choices are ticked once while creating the media, and are baked into that USB (dialog choices recreated from the real Rufus wording)
1

Where the Setting Lives

  1. Ventoy: one setting on the stick (VTOY_WIN11_BYPASS_CHECK). It applies to every Windows 11 ISO you boot from that stick, on every PC, until you switch it off
  2. Rufus: the choices are written into the installation media while creating it. That USB carries the bypass inside itself — and that USB installs only the one Windows image it was made from
  3. Change your mind with Ventoy: flip one value in VentoyPlugson. With Rufus: create the media again from scratch
2

What Happens to Your ISO

  1. Ventoy: the ISO file is used exactly as downloaded from Microsoft — never opened, never patched. The same stick also holds your Windows 10, Linux and recovery ISOs
  2. Rufus: the ISO is written out onto the stick as an extracted, prepared installation. One stick, one job — a new Windows version means rebuilding the stick
  3. For a technician who installs Windows on different PCs every week, one Ventoy stick replaces a drawer of single-purpose Rufus sticks

The Extras Each One Offers

  1. Rufus can pre-answer setup questions at creation time: a local account with a chosen username, privacy choices set, the account requirement removed
  2. Ventoy covers the account requirement too, through VTOY_WIN11_BYPASS_NRO, which brings back the offline / local account flow during setup — but it does not pre-create your account; you still type the name during setup
  3. Neither tool's bypass makes the installed PC officially supported — both skip the same checks, and the installed Windows is identical afterwards
4

The Honest Verdict

One PC, one install, never again: either tool works; Rufus's single-purpose stick is arguably the simpler afternoon project.

Many PCs, repeated installs, one toolkit stick: Ventoy wins clearly — the setting is made once, the ISO stays original, and the same stick serves every machine. That is exactly why the video's trick works: Rufus ki zarurat nahi — not because Rufus is bad, but because your Ventoy stick already had this feature built in.

⚠️ Honest note: this comparison is only about the bypass. It does not change which tool is better for other jobs, and it does not change Microsoft's position: a PC installed either way remains unsupported hardware, with updates not officially guaranteed.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is the installed Windows different between the two methods?

No. Both methods skip the same Setup checks using the same LabConfig mechanism. The Windows that ends up on the PC is a normal installation either way — the difference is only in how the USB was prepared and used.

Can one Ventoy stick bypass for Windows 11 but not for another ISO?

The bypass setting is global to the stick: it applies whenever a Windows 11 ISO is booted. It has no effect on Windows 10, Linux or other ISOs at all, so in practice it is already scoped to exactly the installs that need it.

I already made a Rufus stick. Should I switch?

If it works for your one PC, there is nothing to fix. Switch to the Ventoy method when you find yourself remaking sticks for new PCs or new Windows versions — that repeated work is what Ventoy removes.
