Cursor Not Blinking in Any App Graphics Driver and Display Checks
When the text cursor refuses to blink in every single program, stop thinking about Tally. The fault is system-wide, and this page works it in the right order — the free settings first, the graphics driver second, and the server display layer after that.
🎥 Once the system side is healthy, the Tally server fix itself is in this video
A cursor that blinks nowhere is actually the easiest pattern to reason about: one shared cause must be sitting underneath all your programs. Usually it is the blink-rate setting itself. When it is not, the display path — graphics driver on a PC, or the virtual display on a server — is next. Here is the ladder, cheapest first, with an honest note on which tool habits to avoid.

Cursor in Notepad, Word and TallyNOT BLINKING ANYWHERE
A system-wide pattern with a driver that deserves a look. Panel is an illustration, not a screenshot of your machine.
1
First Prove It Really Is System Wide
Before touching drivers, confirm the pattern: open Notepad and one more program, as the same user, and watch the text cursor in each. If it blinks in neither, the fault is above any single application — it belongs to the Windows settings, the session, or the display path. If it blinks in Notepad after all, stop here and use the Tally-only guide instead; drivers are the wrong road for that pattern.
2
The Cheap Checks Before the Driver
Two settings beat a driver reinstall for speed, and both are quick:
Control Panel → Keyboard → confirm the Cursor blink rate slider is not at None
Settings → System → Display → note the Scale value; unusual scaling on a remote session can make a thin cursor hard to see, so test at 100 percent once
Turn on the Text cursor indicator in Settings → Accessibility → Text cursor so you can see the result of every test clearly
3
Update the Graphics Driver — From the Maker, Not a Booster
A faulty or very old display driver can break how the cursor is drawn across every program. The safe way to handle it:
Open Device Manager → Display adapters and note the exact adapter name and any warning mark
Download the driver from the PC or motherboard maker's support page, or the chip maker's site — Intel, NVIDIA or AMD
Install it, restart, and repeat the Notepad test
If the problem started right after a driver update, do the opposite: open the adapter's Properties → Driver tab → Roll Back Driver
Honest warning: skip the free driver-booster tools that promise to fix everything. Wrong or bundled drivers from those tools cause more cursor and display problems than they solve.
4
On a Server, Check the Virtual Display Too
If this is a Tally server reached through TSplus or RDP, users never see the physical graphics card — they see a virtual display created by the remote software. So add two checks:
Keep TSplus updated to its current release, using the vendor's own update path
Test from the server console itself (sitting at the machine, or through your management access): if the cursor blinks at the console but not inside remote sessions, the display driver is fine and the session layer is your suspect
5
Last Checks — System Files, and a Different Problem Entirely
If settings and driver look right and nothing blinks anywhere, one repair check is worth running:
Open Command Prompt as Administrator
Run sfc /scannow and let it finish; restart and test again
And one honest separation: if your mouse pointer — the arrow — is flickering, jumping or vanishing, that is a different fault (mouse hardware, USB port or pointer driver). Swapping the mouse and the port tests it in a minute. This guide is only about the text cursor that will not blink.
🔴 Change one thing at a time. Settings, scaling, driver — test the Notepad cursor after each single change. If you change all three together and it starts working, you will never know which one mattered, and the next occurrence starts from zero again.

How do I know whether it is the driver or just the blink setting?
Check the setting first because it takes thirty seconds: Control Panel, Keyboard, Cursor blink rate slider. If the slider is mid-range and the cursor still blinks nowhere, then look at the driver — especially if a warning mark shows in Device Manager or the problem began right after a driver update.
The problem is on our Tally server. Should I update its graphics driver?
Carefully, and with a plan. Remote users see a virtual display from TSplus or RDP, not the physical card, so first test at the server console and keep TSplus itself updated. Change the physical driver only in a maintenance window, with a known-good installer from the maker's site.
My mouse pointer flickers too. Is it the same fix?
No — treat them as two faults. The blinking text cursor is a setting and display-rendering matter. A flickering mouse arrow usually points at the mouse, its USB port or receiver, or the pointer driver. Test with a different mouse in a different port before changing any software.
