All three can run a real shop. They differ in what they charge, what they demand from you, and who is really in control. This comparison grades Bagisto, WooCommerce and Shopify honestly — including the places where Bagisto is not the right answer.
Platform comparisons usually hide their conclusion in the first paragraph: whoever wrote it sells one of the three. This one sells none. Bagisto, WooCommerce and Shopify are each the best choice for somebody — the job is finding which somebody you are. The honest split is this: Shopify rents you simplicity, WooCommerce grows out of WordPress, and Bagisto gives a developer full ownership on Laravel. Everything below follows from those three sentences.
Summary grades, argued in full below. Every platform also pays payment-gateway percentages on top of these platform costs.
Shopify is the simplest bill and the largest: a monthly subscription for as long as the shop exists, plus transaction-related charges on some plans, plus paid apps for features other platforms include. WooCommerce and Bagisto both have free software at the core, so your fixed costs drop to hosting plus domain, with paid extensions only when you choose them. Over three years, a rented platform commonly costs several times more than self-hosting the same small shop — and in exchange it removes real work, which the next section prices honestly.
Here Bagisto must take its lowest grade of the three. Shopify is designed for non-technical owners and mostly delivers that. WooCommerce needs WordPress comfort but no code for a normal store. Bagisto's daily admin work is equally friendly, but installing it, updating it and rescuing it when it breaks are developer-flavoured tasks, and any serious customisation is Laravel programming. If you have a developer — or you are one — this is a strength. If the words PHP and Composer mean nothing to you and nobody on your team can learn them, Bagisto will frustrate you, and saying so plainly is part of an honest comparison.
On Bagisto and WooCommerce the shop is files and a database on hosting you rent: you can move providers, keep full backups, modify anything, and never ask permission. On hosted platforms the shop lives inside someone else's system under their rules — convenient until a policy, a price rise or an account problem arrives, when leaving means exporting what the platform allows rather than taking your shop with you. Bagisto adds one more ownership point: because it is a Laravel application with its features built as packages, a developer can extend it in its own style instead of fighting a plugin maze.
None of the three fixes a weak product or absent marketing. The platform is the shop floor; what you sell and who hears about it still decides the business.

Watch Full VideoNeither is simply better. WooCommerce is easier for WordPress users and has a larger plugin ecosystem. Bagisto is a purpose-built store on Laravel with multi-channel, multi-currency and multi-warehouse ideas in the core, and suits teams with Laravel skills.
They are buying the removal of technical work: hosting, updates, security and support handled by the platform. That is a real service worth real money to a busy owner. Bagisto removes the fee and hands that work to you or your developer.
Your products, customers and orders live in a database you own, so the data can be exported and imported elsewhere. Design and custom features do not transfer automatically on any platform, which is why the ownership of the data matters most.
