Pro is a one-time payment for layouts, apps and support — not for a better operating system. Whether it is worth it depends entirely on which type of user you are. This page sorts the buyers from the people who should save their money.
Most "is it worth it" pages dodge the question. This one answers it directly, because Zorin unusual honesty about its own editions makes it easy: Core is complete and free, Pro is a bundle of extras for a one-time price. So the only question that matters is whether the extras match your life. Walk through the buyer types below and be honest about which one is you.

The 8 premium layouts are the one thing in Pro you genuinely cannot get free. If your new PC must present the centred Windows 11-style desktop to feel right, or you are moving a Mac user across and the macOS-style layout will halve their learning curve, the one-time price buys exactly that comfort. Layouts sound cosmetic until you watch a nervous switcher relax because everything is where their hands expect.
Pro pre-installs a serious creative toolkit — video editing, photo editing, illustration, an audio workstation and Blender-class 3D — the same class of tools professionals use, curated to work well together. Yes, each app is free to install on Core. But a creator who wants to open the laptop and start working today, without an afternoon of choosing and installing, is paying for exactly that saved afternoon. For a working creator the bundle pays for itself once.
Every copy of Pro includes the Zorin Installation Support service — email help from the Zorin team while you set up one computer. If you are installing Linux for your parents in another city, or for a small office where downtime costs money, having the maker own support behind you is real value. It is also the honest reason many people buy Pro for a machine they will never personally use.
Be equally honest the other way. If your computing is a browser, documents, email, media and video calls, Core does all of it free, at the same speed, with the same updates until June 2029. The premium layouts will not change your day, the creative suite will sit unopened, and support for an install you can do yourself buys nothing. Save the money — or, if you simply like the project, know that buying Pro later is always possible.
You never have to guess. Zorin designed the path itself: download Core free, test it from a USB stick, install it, live with it for a few weeks. If you then catch yourself wanting a premium layout or the creative bundle, upgrade in place with the built-in Upgrade Zorin OS app — your files, apps and settings carry over untouched. The only bad purchase is the one made before the free test.

▶️ Watch Full VideoThe price is set in US dollars on the official zorin.com Pro page and works out at roughly US $48 including taxes at the time of writing. The exact amount varies with your country taxes, so check the official page for the figure that applies to you. It is a one-time payment, never a subscription.
Your payment covers the whole Zorin OS 18 series, including point updates such as 18.1, and version 18 is supported until at least June 2029. A future major version like Zorin OS 19 Pro would be a separate purchase, but existing Pro owners receive a discount on it.
For personal use, Zorin allows you to install your copy of Pro on multiple computers you own. For a business or organisation the rule is stricter — one purchased copy per computer. Either way, sharing your copy with people outside your household is not permitted.
