Tiny11 vs Windows 11 RAM and Disk Usage Honest Numbers
Tiny11 is lighter — that part is true. But the exact gigabytes depend on the edition, the measurement method and the moment you look. Here is how to read the numbers honestly.

Every Tiny11 video shows a Task Manager screenshot: tiny RAM graph, tiny disk footprint, big celebration. The direction of those claims is honest — Tiny11 really does use much less RAM and disk than stock Windows 11. But the exact numbers floating around the internet vary wildly, and some are simply not comparable. This guide separates measured fact from marketing, so you know what improvement to actually expect on your PC.
Task Manager — Performance tab, idle after a fresh install (example values)
Stock Win 11 RAM3.5-4.5 GB
Tiny11 RAM1.5-2 GB
Stock disk used20-30 GB
Tiny11 disk used8-15 GB
Example ranges from commonly reported fresh installs, not a promise. Your hardware, drivers and update state move these numbers — measure yours with the method in Fix 4.
1
The Figures That Are Commonly Reported
Across the developer's releases and many independent installs, the same ranges keep appearing for Tiny11 25H2 standard edition:
ISO size: about 5.1 GB (Core edition about 3 GB) versus roughly 6+ GB for a stock Windows 11 ISO
Disk used after install: roughly 8-15 GB, and it can be squeezed lower with compression — stock Windows 11 typically lands between 20 and 30 GB and grows from there
Idle RAM: commonly around 1.5-2 GB on a 25H2 build, versus roughly 3.5-4.5 GB idle on stock Windows 11 on the same class of machine
Minimum to run: 2 GB RAM officially for Tiny11; stock Windows 11 demands 4 GB and still feels tight
Treat these as reported ranges, not specifications. NTDEV publishes ISO hashes and sizes; RAM figures come from real installs and vary.
2
Why Two Screenshots of the Same Build Disagree
If one video shows 1.2 GB and another shows 2.1 GB, neither is necessarily lying. RAM use moves because of:
When the screenshot was taken — the first hour after install, Windows indexes files, finishes updates and preloads; idle numbers settle later
Total RAM installed — Windows uses a percentage-based cache; the same system shows higher 'in use' numbers on a 16 GB machine than on a 4 GB machine
Drivers and vendor software — a laptop maker's utilities can add hundreds of megabytes
Edition — Tiny11 Core idles lower than standard Tiny11, because more was removed, including servicing
What 'idle' means — desktop open is not the same as desktop open with a browser and chat apps running
3
Where the Savings Actually Come From
Understanding the source of the savings stops you expecting impossible ones:
Removed apps: Xbox, Clipchamp, Teams, Weather, News, Mail and similar bundled apps never install — that is mostly disk space and some background processes
Removed services and scheduled tasks: telemetry, consumer-content and sync components that stock Windows runs constantly
No Edge, no OneDrive integration: two always-present background residents gone
The Windows kernel itself is the same — Tiny11 does not rewrite Windows' core memory behaviour. Your heavy apps (Chrome, Photoshop, games) will use roughly the same RAM as before. Tiny11 frees the overhead around them, not the apps themselves

Measure the Truth on Your Own PC
Want numbers you can trust? Measure the same way before and after:
On your current Windows, restart, wait 5 full minutes doing nothing, then open Task Manager and note Memory — In use and open Settings → System → Storage for used disk space. Screenshot both
Install Tiny11, finish all Windows Updates, install the same drivers, restart, wait the same 5 minutes
Note the same two figures. That difference is your real saving — on your hardware, with your drivers
For disk detail, run powercfg /h off only if you never use hibernate — the hibernation file alone can fake several GB of 'difference' between two installs
One honest expectation: on a PC with 8 GB RAM and an SSD, Tiny11 feels a bit snappier. On a 2-4 GB RAM machine with a hard disk, it can feel like a different computer. The weaker the hardware, the bigger the honest win.
⚖️ Bottom line: expect roughly half the idle RAM and 10+ GB less disk than stock Windows 11 on typical installs. Anyone promising exact figures for your PC without measuring your PC is guessing.

The installation and the live desktop on a real machine — see the actual footprint instead of reading claims about it.
Only indirectly. It frees RAM and background CPU that stock Windows spends on extras, so on low-RAM machines your apps get more room. On a powerful PC the difference is small. Tiny11 does not overclock or rewrite Windows — the same app uses about the same resources once it is running.
Why did my Tiny11 use more RAM after a week?
Normal reasons: Windows Update finished pending work, you installed drivers and utilities, and Windows' standby cache grows to use available memory — cached RAM is not wasted RAM. Judge by whether the PC feels responsive and whether 'Committed' memory stays under your physical RAM, not by one Task Manager number.
Is Tiny11 Core's smaller size worth it?
Core idles a little lower and installs into less disk, but it gives up servicing — no normal updates. For a test VM or a kiosk-style single-purpose PC, fine. For anything you rely on, the standard edition's slightly bigger footprint buys you a maintainable system.
