Removal should never be a one way street. Whether you miss Edge, an app is complaining, or you are handing the PC to someone else, this page puts everything back the clean way - from Microsoft's own download, never from a third party site.
Good news first: reinstalling Edge is the easiest job on this whole site, because Microsoft wants it back on your PC even more than you do. The official installer repairs over the top of almost any removal, and if a removal tool left an updater block behind, the steps below clear that too. Work in order - browser first, then the WebView2 repair if an app still complains, then your defaults.
👆 Every “Edge download” on a random software site is at best unnecessary and at worst bundled junk. Two Microsoft pages cover every reinstall case.
microsoft.com/edgeIf you previously used the official EEA uninstall, this is the entire undo. If you used a remover tool, continue to Step Two only if the installer refuses or Edge vanishes again within days.
Some removal tools block the Edge updater so the browser cannot return. If your fresh install disappears again, that block is still active. The honest fix is to reverse it with the same tool's own undo or restore point rather than stacking more hacks: restore the Before Edge removal restore point from the main guide via rstrui.exe, then reinstall Edge once more. This is exactly why that restore point was worth two minutes of your life.
Sometimes the browser returns fine but Teams, Outlook or another app still shows empty windows - that is the WebView2 Runtime, not the browser. Go to Microsoft's WebView2 page, download the Evergreen Standalone Installer, run it, and restart the app. The Runtime reinstalls without forcing the browser debate open again - many users run exactly this combination: no Edge browser, healthy WebView2, every app working.
A reinstalled Edge will cheerfully offer to be your default again. Decide on purpose: Settings - Apps - Default apps. Keep Edge as default if this whole exercise taught you it was fine - or re-assign your other browser and the .pdf type, and dismiss Edge's setup prompts with the “do not ask again” choices where offered. Sign in to Edge with your Microsoft account only if you want your favourites and passwords synced back; skipping sign-in keeps it a clean spare browser.

That is the WebView2 Runtime, a separate component apps use to render their panes. Download the WebView2 Evergreen Standalone Installer from Microsoft's WebView2 page, run it, and restart the app. The browser and the runtime are independent - you can repair one without the other.
Only if you sign in to Edge with the same Microsoft account and sync was on - then your favourites, passwords and history return from your account. Without sign-in, a reinstalled Edge starts empty like a new browser, and data from the old profile is generally not recoverable.
