Renewal day goes one of two ways: a calm five-minute upload, or a network with no patching while a purchase order crawls through approvals. The difference is starting 30 days early.
Everything about renewal is easy except the timing. The upload itself takes minutes; the quote, the approval and the payment take days. This page is about never letting those two clocks collide - plus the separate AMS license that admins forget until an upgrade refuses to run.
Some software gives you a friendly grace period after expiry. Do not plan around one here. ManageEngine's FAQ states that once the license expires, Endpoint Central cannot perform any actions, including inventory scanning, until you renew. Whether a short informal grace exists in your build is not something to gamble a patch cycle on. The professional pattern is boring and reliable: start the renewal about 30 days before the expiry date shown on your License page, so quotes, approvals and purchase orders have time to move at office speed.
Endpoint Central can warn you itself. ManageEngine provides a License Expiry Notification that emails you on or before the expiry date - set it up from the license area of the console and make sure the recipient is a mailbox that a human actually reads, ideally a shared IT mailbox rather than one person's inbox. Combine that with a calendar reminder 30 days out. Two independent reminders means one person's holiday cannot take your patch management down.
Sitting on a renewal file for weeks is a real-world failure mode: the old license expires while the new one waits in someone's downloads folder.
Alongside the product license sits the AMS (Annual Maintenance and Support) license. If AMS expires, your product keeps running, but you cannot upgrade the server to a later version and you lose entitlement to the support team. Check both dates whenever you renew, renew them together where possible, and upload the renewed AMS file through the same License page route if your build asks for it separately.

Your License page shows the validity date, and Endpoint Central offers a License Expiry Notification by email on or before expiry. Set that notification to a shared IT mailbox and add your own calendar reminder as backup.
No. ManageEngine confirms a restart is not required after applying a renewed license; the new validity takes effect as soon as the upload completes.
