📋 Overview & Step-by-Step Guide
Download Tiny11 25H2 from the Official Source
Tiny11 is built by developer NTDEV. It starts from Windows 11 version 25H2 and strips out the bundled apps and services most people never use — things like Clipchamp, News, Weather, Xbox, Edge, OneDrive, Copilot and Teams — so the system runs on as little as 2 GB of RAM and about 8 GB of storage.
Get it only from NTDEV's own channels: the tiny11builder project on GitHub (github.com/ntdevlabs/tiny11builder), which builds the trimmed image from an official Microsoft ISO, or NTDEV's official pre-built Tiny11 releases. Avoid random "Tiny11 download" websites — a modified Windows ISO from an unknown source can carry anything inside it. Before you begin, back up anything important on the PC you are going to install on, because a clean install wipes the drive.
Verify the ISO with the SHA256 Hash
Before using the downloaded file, check that it is complete and untouched. Open PowerShell and run the hash command on the ISO, exactly as shown in the video:
Get-FileHash C:\path\to\tiny11.iso -Algorithm SHA256
Replace the path with the real location of your downloaded ISO. Compare the SHA256 value PowerShell prints with the hash published alongside the download — the two must match character for character. If they do not match, delete the file and download it again; do not install from an ISO that fails this check.
Make the Bootable USB
Write the verified Tiny11 ISO to a USB pendrive with a bootable-USB tool such as Rufus: select the USB drive, select the Tiny11 ISO, and start the write. Wait until the tool reports the drive is ready.
Boot from USB and Install Tiny11
Plug the bootable USB into the target PC, restart it, and open the boot menu (the key varies by brand — commonly F12, F8 or Esc) and choose the USB drive. The Windows setup then runs much like a normal Windows 11 install: pick your language, choose the drive, and let the files copy.
Two things are different from a stock install. Tiny11 does not stop you on the usual hardware checks, so PCs without TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot can still install it (the processor still needs SSE 4.2 support). And the setup lets you finish with a local account — no Microsoft account sign-in is forced during installation.
First Boot, Activation and the Honest Limits
On the desktop you will see a much lighter Windows: far fewer pre-installed apps and background services, which is exactly why Tiny11 suits old and low-spec machines. Security basics such as Microsoft Defender and the firewall are still in place.
Be clear about the limits before you rely on it. Tiny11 does not include Windows activation — you still need a genuine Windows 11 licence key to activate it, just like a normal install. The standard Tiny11 build can run Windows Update, but because components have been removed, updates and long-term support are not guaranteed, and some removed parts can only come back by reinstalling them yourself from the Microsoft Store. Treat it as a lightweight option for old hardware and testing, not as a Microsoft-supported system.
