Pro IT Engineer Skill! 🚀 Clear All Cache, Junk & Temp Files 😳 Speed Up PC
Every IT engineer knows this routine by heart: clear the cache, junk and temp files that Windows quietly piles up, and give the PC its breathing room back. Here it is the safe way — Settings Temporary files, the %TEMP% folder, the Windows Temp folder and the Recycle Bin, on Windows 11 and Windows 10.

- The honest truth about speed — what this cleanup can and cannot do
📋 Overview & Step-by-Step Guide
Clean Temporary Files from Settings
Start with the built-in cleanup, because Windows already knows what is safe to remove. Open Settings → System → Storage and click Temporary files. Windows scans and lists the junk it can delete: Temporary files, Windows Update Cleanup, Delivery Optimization Files, Thumbnails, Microsoft Defender Antivirus files and the Recycle Bin.
Tick the categories you want to clear and click Remove files. This one screen handles most of the cache and update leftovers without touching anything personal.
Empty Your User Temp Folder (%TEMP%)
Next is the temp folder your apps and installers use every day. Press Win + R to open the Run box, type the command below and press Enter:
%TEMP%
Your user Temp folder opens. Select everything with Ctrl + A and press Delete. Everything here is scratch data that apps recreate as needed, so it is safe to clear.
Empty the Windows Temp Folder
Windows itself keeps a second, system-level Temp folder. Open File Explorer, click the address bar, type this path and press Enter:
C:\Windows\Temp
Select all the contents and delete them the same way. Because this is a system folder, Windows may ask for administrator permission — click Continue. As before, skip anything that is currently in use.
Empty the Recycle Bin
Nothing you deleted above has actually freed space yet — it is all sitting in the Recycle Bin. Right-click the Recycle Bin on the desktop and choose Empty Recycle Bin, then confirm.
Only now is the disk space genuinely released back to Windows. On a PC that has not been cleaned in months, this step alone can hand back several gigabytes.
Check the Space You Recovered
Go back to Settings → System → Storage and look at the free space on your system drive, or open This PC and check the C: drive bar. Compare it with what you started with — that is the real result of the cleanup.
