📋 Overview & Step-by-Step Guide

1

Choose the Right USB Drive

MediCat is a big toolkit, so the USB drive has to be big too: use a pendrive of 32 GB or larger (the MediCat files alone take up more than 20 GB, and a 64 GB drive leaves room for extra ISOs later). A faster USB 3.0 drive makes both the install and the booting noticeably quicker.

⚠️ Back up the drive first. The setup formats the USB completely — every file already on it will be erased.
2

Download the Official Installer from medicatusb.com

Go to the official MediCat USB website, medicatusb.com, and download the installer for Windows. Always take it from the official site only — MediCat is free, and copies from random download sites can be bundled with junk.

One thing to know before you start: the toolkit includes password-reset and system tools, which antivirus software often flags. The project notes that real-time protection may need to be paused while the installer runs — if you do this, run only the official installer and switch protection back on as soon as the setup is finished.

3

Run the Installer as Administrator

The Windows installer is a script file. Right-click it and choose Run as administrator. It opens in a command prompt window and works through simple text menus — just follow the prompts on screen, and at the main menu choose the Install MediCat option to begin.

💡 If Windows SmartScreen pops up for the unsigned script, click More info ➔ Run anyway — this is normal for this installer, as long as you downloaded it from medicatusb.com.
4

Let the Installer Set Up Ventoy on the Drive

MediCat boots through Ventoy, and the installer sets it up for you automatically — you do not install Ventoy separately. Select your USB drive from the list and confirm the drive letter carefully, then choose the partition style: GPT for modern PCs (MBR only for very old machines), and enable Secure Boot support when asked.

Ventoy then formats the drive and installs its bootloader. After that, the installer downloads the full MediCat package — choose the torrent download if you can, as it is usually faster and more reliable for a file this large; a direct download is also offered. When the download completes, the files are copied onto the USB automatically.

5

Boot a PC from the Finished MediCat USB

Plug the finished USB into the PC you want to repair, restart it, and open the boot menu during startup — usually with F12, Esc or Del, depending on the machine. Select the USB drive, and the MediCat menu appears, built on Ventoy: navigate with the keyboard and pick the tool you need.

The drive also carries Start.exe — the launcher that opens MediCat's menu of portable tools when the drive is used from inside a running Windows.

6

What Is Inside the Toolkit

Everything is organised into categories, so one pendrive covers most repair jobs: antivirus and malware scanners, backup and disk imaging, boot repair tools, hardware diagnostics, partition managers, data recovery, Windows recovery and password tools, plus a collection of portable apps and a live Windows environment for working on a system that will not start on its own.

✅ Technician's habit: once your MediCat USB is ready, boot it once on your own PC and open a couple of tools. Testing it before an emergency means no surprises at a customer's desk.
