📋 Overview & Step-by-Step Guide

1

Install Ventoy on the USB Drive

Ventoy is the base of the whole setup. Download Ventoy from its official site (ventoy.net), extract the ZIP, plug in a large USB drive and run Ventoy2Disk.exe. Select your USB drive in the Device list and click Install. Ventoy formats the drive once, puts its boot loader on a small hidden partition, and leaves the rest of the drive as normal storage. From this point on the drive never needs formatting again — adding or removing tools is just file copying. Ventoy works with both Legacy BIOS and UEFI, including Secure Boot.

⚠️ Warning: Clicking Install erases everything on the USB drive. Back up anything you need from the pendrive first, and double-check you selected the USB drive — not a hard disk — in the Device list.
2

Download the Three Toolkit Images

Next, download the three ready-made environments the video puts on the drive. MediCat USB is the biggest of the three — a Windows PE based rescue toolkit (its desktop environment is called Mini Windows 10) packed with a very large collection of portable tools, and it is itself built around Ventoy. Sergei Strelec WinPE is a bootable Windows 10/11 PE image known for its organised set of disk, backup, recovery and diagnostics utilities. Gandalf's Windows PE is another ready-made WinPE environment loaded with system maintenance utilities. Download each one only from its own official project page, and prefer a large, fast USB drive — MediCat alone is a very big download.

📌 Note: These toolkits are large images. Keep the downloads in one folder so the next step — copying them to the drive — stays simple.
3

Copy the ISO Files onto the Ventoy Drive

Open the Ventoy USB drive in File Explorer and simply copy the MediCat, Strelec and Gandalf ISO files onto it, like copying any normal files. Do not extract the ISOs and do not write them with a burning tool — Ventoy reads the image files directly. The drive still works as ordinary storage, so documents and setup files can sit alongside the ISOs. Later, updating the toolkit is equally simple: delete an old ISO and copy the newer one in its place.

✅ Tip: Give the ISO files clear names before copying. The Ventoy boot menu lists the file names exactly as they are on the drive, so clear names make the right toolkit easy to pick under pressure.
4

Boot the PC from the USB

Plug the finished USB into the PC you want to repair, switch it on and open the one-time boot menu — usually with F12, F8 or Esc, depending on the brand. Select the USB drive from the list. Instead of starting Windows, the PC shows the Ventoy menu with every ISO on the drive. Pick the toolkit you want with the arrow keys and press Enter — that environment now loads entirely from the USB, without touching the installed Windows.

5

Pick the Right Toolkit for the Job

Each environment covers the same family of offline jobs, with a different speciality. MediCat is the maximal collection — malware scanners, partition managers, recovery apps and general utilities for almost any situation. Sergei Strelec's WinPE is the tidy all-rounder for disk and partition work, backup and restore, data recovery and hardware diagnostics. Gandalf's PE gives you another full Windows PE desktop for maintenance and file work. Because everything runs from the USB, you can copy data off a PC that will not boot, repair its disks and partitions, scan it offline, or restore a backup — all from the one pendrive built in this video.
